Most Dads have more ties than they can wear in a lifetime. And if asked, they may confess they haven’t even opened last years gift - that box of fancy golf balls. So this year, how about thinking a little outside the box when it comes to Father’s Day offerings? Why not consider taking Dad on a Western adventure to a dude ranch? It’s surely a gift he’ll never forget!

To make sure the ranch is worthy to host someone as dear as Dad, reserve stays only at ranches with membership in the Dude Rancher’s Association or DRA. There are more than 100 DRA member ranches in the Western US and Canada. Each of them earned the DRA logo by granting all guests a quality ranch experience. Just like Dad, each DRA ranch is special in its own way. And with Father’s Day on June 15 this year, many ranches have pre-season rates in effect.

Guests during the first three weeks of June receive 20% off at Wyoming’s LAZY L & B Ranch. A bona-fide Western dude ranch, Dads who before arrival, think they don’t have much of the cowboy in them often depart looking as if they were born in the saddle! Maybe that’s due to the riding legends associated with this land. After all these are the same trails traversed by pony express riders, Lewis & Clark, and Buffalo Bill. When Dads not riding under the canopy of the Shoshone forest or climbing the lofty trails of Wind River Mountain, he can fish, swim, or play a game of horseshoes.
If riding and roping aren’t thrilling enough for Dad, count on Idaho’s Twin Peaks Ranch Salmon River trips to get his pulse moving! There’s good reason the Salmon is called the “River of no Return.” Cutting a turbulent path between sheer canyon walls, river-goers encounter tremendous boulders and pockets of churning eddies during this just perilous enough journey. Located between three of America's largest national parks: Yellowstone, Glacier and the Church Wilderness Area, Twin Peaks is an outdoorsman’s dream. After a rigorous day on the river and trails, guests rest easily surrounded by the quiet beauty of the wilderness.
For the Father who appreciates the finer things in life, there’s Colorado’s Smith Fork Ranch. Dad can de-stress with a complimentary massage and indulge in the choice cuisine and fine wines the ranch is known for. In between feasts, Dad can do some clay shooting, fly-fishing; even take an aerial tour in a vintage bi-plane! If Dad’s a true gourmand, he may want to combine his stay with a foray to the nearby Aspen Food & Wine Festival June 12-15.

To find the ranch perfect for any Dad- consult the DRA website or request a detailed catalog of member ranches by calling 866-399-2339. The DRA has set the high standards for a quality dude ranch vacation since 1926.
