Broken Arrow Lodge and Outfitters

We are a small family owned and operated ranch. We have been in business since 1993. We started with hunters in the fall with the lodge still being built. We built the ranch from the ground up, putting in the roads, the bridge, and constructing the buildings. 197 ,the pond was dug and stocked with 150 trout that are waiting for you to catch. We started with 4 or 5 horses and have grown to 25 head with both horses and mules. All of them ride and pack. They are very sound, safe, and fun to ride. We match the guest to the horse based on experience levels. We have helmets for the adults who prefer to wear one and it is mandatory for children 12 and under. We provide instruction to all the guests individually before we go out into the mountains.  We have miles and miles of country to ride so you never have to do the same ride twice. It is your choice. Enjoy the loop. the lake ride, the top of the world, just to mention a few. Day rides from the lodge allow you to be flexible to participate in other activities, such as fishing, swimming, hiking, scenic auto tours, western hirstory, gold panning and garnet digging. You may want to try your hand at roping our wooden steer, he is very patient while you get the hang of it. We can enjoy a ride over to Warm Springs to wade in the creek and feel the medicinal effect the warm springs have on you. We can take a jeep ride and combine a hike up Black Butte . The site of an old volcanoe. This butte is a well know landmark in the Ruby Valley, along with the Hogback on the Snowcrest Mountain Range that runs parrallel to the Gravelly Range with Black Butte dominating the valley. The Ruby River is spring fed and originates from the East Fork, The West Fork, and the Middle Fork. We are very fortunate to have the Ruby running throuth the lodge property offering some of the best fishing in Montana. We work with a local rancher to help keep the cattle out of the riparian areas and we welcome you to join us.

Ranch Dining

Hearty meals are served family style. Start your week with a breakfast of ham and eggs, hashbrowns, toast, yogurt, and creeal. Enjoy a sack lunck out on a ride with a sandwich, fruit, juice, and a couple snacks. Sit down to chicken, wild rice, vegetables, homemade bread or biscuits, and two salads, with banana cream pie for dessert. Drinks of coffee, tea hot or iced, juice, milk, and water are provided. Fruit and chips are available at all times. New menu every day. We accommodate special diets.

Ranch Activities

Enjoy a couple hours horseback, all day or camp out on a pack trip. Inhale the fresh mountain air on a hike, view the incredible views on the back of a horse or on a jeep ride. Photograph the elk, deer, bear, antelope, moose, mountain goats, and big horn sheep. Try your hand at gold panning or garnet digging. Take in the sites of the old west in Virginia City, shop in the unique gift shops, and enjoy a show with the Virginia City Players for the family. They will have you laughing for weeks.

Ranch Lodging

Guest rooms are in the main lodge. It is like staying with friends. We take pride in making our guests feel like one of the family. We have six rooms to choose from that occupy from one to six guests at a time. All rooms are private with two having a private bathroom inside the room. Two of the rooms have the bathroom next to the room. The last two rooms are upstairs with a bathroom on the main floor. Some folks prefer to relax on the front porch on the couch, enjoying the scenery and wildlife.
