A Bar A Ranch

Along the banks of the North Platte River, in the heart of southern Wyoming's Medicine Bow Mountains, lies the A Bar A Guest Ranch.

Established in 1926, it is one of the oldest guest ranches in the country. It is also one of the largest: nearly 100,000 acres for guests and staff to explore, in addition to National Forest and Wilderness Area that surround us.

Horseback riding, fishing, and hiking are primary draws, but we also have tennis, golf, skeet, trap, sporting clays, a heated swimming pool, excellent meals, and first class children's and teen's programs.

The A Bar A offers many activities that will match families that may have diverse interests.

Travel to the A Bar A is easy, fly into our private 5700 foot paved airstrip (on property), Cheyenne, Wyoming (2.2 hours), or Denver Colorado (3.75 hours).

Our return rate is 92% and we recommend that guests submit reservation requests prior to October 1st for the following summer. Of course, it never hurts to call later in the year, as spaces do sometimes become available then. We recommend a phone call to help work out details and so we can work with you to determine if the A Bar A is the best fit for you. We are always glad to help.

Ranch Dining

A day of fishing and riding in the mountain air promotes a healthy appetite. Dining at the A Bar A is one of the things that guests say is a favorite part of their Ranch experience.

Master Chef Kent Trebilcox's creative menus are prepared with the highest quality ingredients, including organic produce and natural meats. The Ranches wine cellar holds one of the largest selections of fine wines in the state of Wyoming, available at a reasonable price.

Ranch Activities

Guests explore hundreds of miles of riding trails, from relaxed family rides for beginners, to challenging trails for experts. The ranch owns 130 high-quality horses, and guests usually ride the same horse for their entire stay, allowing horse and rider to get to know each other well.

The A Bar A Ranch offers guests the rare opportunity to guide themselves on rides, or choose to be accompanied by an experienced wrangler.

Friendships formed at the ranch endure across the miles and through the years. There are so many things to do that a week passes in a flash, yet the ranch also promotes a sense of relaxation and well being that guests take with them when they leave.

Ranch Lodging

The A Bar A's history is reflected in its buildings. Three guest houses and sixteen cabins are surrounded by the natural beauty of the North Platte River Valley. Groups, from large extended families to couples, can be accommodated in our comfortable cabins with Western decor.

The Ranch atmosphere focuses on family time and outdoor recreation, and TVs and phones are not available in rooms. Wireless Internet access is available.
