I've never really thought about it actually. I've always stood in the stirrups when the horse urinates. Is this all a myth? I really don't know where I got this habit from. My guess is from my Dad that taught me how to ride at a young age.

I ride English and Western, my roper friends, dressage and Hunter jumper buddies all stand. Well this will give us something to talk about maybe I'll do an informal poll. :)

I was lucky enough to visit there back in 2005 when it was owned by the Massie Family. What a beautiful spot! Although I only stayed 3 days, we saw all kinds of wildlife. Elk walked right thru the ranch early one morning, I saw them by looking out my cabin window. Also saw javelinas, deer and eagles. The surroundings and natural history are super impressive. And the horseback riding was great!!

Hello I was reading about the dude ranches my grandfather started one of the first dude ranches in Texas James h.Minnick and he had a 1000 acres of ranch
He was also appointed the first judge and inspector for the AQHA association
I was hoping to find more info about him
He was a long time friend of will Rogers he also played polo he died in 1947 before I was born but the story's of his ranch and life cowboys and my mom would tell me
Are fascinating one old cowboy that worked for my grandfather told me about the ranch in ford county by Crowell Texas that for every horse the cowboys would break for my grandfather he would give the cowboy two horses and that's how some of the cowboys started their own herd and ranch by my grandfather doing this
Tom mix the famous cowboy actor presented my grandfather and will Rogers with saddles exactly alike he had them custom made for them
Alot more I could say about my grandfather I'm trying to find things for my children to know his history I thank you for reading this
Their is so much history of cowboys and ranches in the late 1800's and early 1900's that people should know about Texas I'm very proud to say James H.Minnick was my grandfather
Thank
